Chapter 10 Cell Division:
Before a cell splits it must first copy its genetic information. Then each daughter cell gets a copy of the genetic information
because without a copy of the information the daughter cells would not be able to survive.
When the genetic information from eukaryotic cells is passed from one generation of cells to the next, it is carried by Chromosomes which is made up of DNA. It carries the cell's coded genetic information and proteins.
Every Organisms cells have a specific number of chromosomes. Human cells have 46 chromosomes, even though all cells have them most cells chromosomes are not visible except during cell division.

Each chromosomes is replicated before cell division. because of the replication when they become visible at the beginning of cell division, each chromosome consist two sister chromatids which are identical.
Every pair of chromatids are attached to an area called the centromere which are located near the middle of the chromatids but some lie near the ends.
The cell cycle are stages that a cell goes through to complete cell division. The cell grows and prepares for division, then divides into the two daughter cells which both will then begin to repeat the cycle.
The cell cycle consists of four stages. first is the M phase which is the division of the nucleus and cytokinesis takes place. Then the S phase which is the copying of chromosomes, when this happens it makes a duplicate set of DNA. The M and S pahse are the most important phases because they define everything else.

Before cells become to big they divide when the cell divides it makes two daughter cells. If a cell is to big it becomes less efficient. When a cell divides its solves information overload because each daughter cell gets a copy. After the cycle is complete the two daughter cells

Mitosis is broken into four phases, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase.
Prophase - Is when genetic material inside of the nucleus condenses and the duplicated chromosomes become visual. The spindle fibers
to form outside of the nucleus.
Metaphase - Across the center of the cell the centromeres line up and the centromeres of each chromosome are connected by the Spindle fibers to the two poles of the spindle.
Anaphase - The chromosomes seperate and are moved along the spindle fibers to opposite ends of the cell.
Telophase - The distinct and condensed chromosomes begin to spread out into a tangle of chromatin.
After these four phases of mitosis happen a process called Cytokinesis takes place. Cytokinesis completes the process of cell division and splits one cell into two seperate cells.
